Christine Campbell’s visit to the Blue Grouse tasting room
The Cowichan Valley, located on British Columbia’s Vancouver Island, is where Blue Grouse Estate Winery and Vineyard calls home and is Canada’s only “cool” maritime Mediterranean climate. Named ‘Quw’utsun’ or Cowichan, by the Salishan First Nations, it translates to ‘land warmed by the sun.’ Everything about my time at Blue Grouse felt warm, friendly, and inviting.

John Schreiner on Blue Grouse
In order to reach out to wine writers and sommeliers in Vancouver, the Cowichan Valley’s Blue Grouse Winery scheduled a luncheon and tasting on March 19 at a leading Vancouver restaurant.
It never took place because restaurants had been asked to shut down the previous week in order to control COVID-19 outbreaks.
In early May, Blue Grouse reached out to those same wine writers to do a virtual tasting using Zoom, the online communications technology that many of us might never have discovered but for COVID.

Blue Grouse Estate Winery will Donate $10,000 to Nourish Cowichan
British Columbia your support has made a difference!
Blue Grouse Estate Winery will Donate $10,000 to Nourish Cowichan
The results are in and we are so proud to announce a donation of $10,000 to Nourish Cowichan Society, a charitable organization helping feed families in need.
Through April, in honour of BC Wine Month, we made the call to support local and buy Blue Grouse wine, and in return we committed to donate $1 dollar for every bottle sold, matched by another dollar from the Brunner family, owners of the winery.
Thanks to the support of the Blue Grouse Fan club, our sales teams, restaurants, and retail partners, we were able to sell 4,000 bottles to wine lovers by April 30, making a total $8,000 donation to the charity.
This morning, the Brunner Family decided to round the amount up to $10,000 reaching the original goal set by the winery team. This donation will provide a whopping 2,500 meals to families in need.

The Brunner family and our team all share a heartfelt thank you to all wine lovers who have helped achieve this wonderful result.

Nourish Cowichan Donations for April 2020!
For the month of April, Blue Grouse Estate Winery will donate $1 from every bottle of wine sold, to the Nourish Cowichan Society. This applies to Blue Grouse and Quill wines sold at the winery, retail, and restaurants.
In addition to giving $1 per bottle sold, the Brunner family, owners of Blue Grouse Winery, will match every donation dollar for dollar. With April being BC Wine month, it is a great time to support BC wineries and farmers, and what a bonus to be able to also help a charitable organisation that needs it so much.

Covid-19 Tasting Room Closure Notice
While we have been closely following stringent cleaning protocols to ensure the health and safety of all our patrons and staff, we have made the difficult decision to close our tasting room, effective immediately.
