Globe and Mail 2012 Pinot Noir Review

Rating: 88
Year: 2012
Region: Cowichan Valley
Varietal: Pinot noir
Food Pairing: Grilled salmon
Price: $23 in B.C.

Produced on Vancouver Island in preciously small quantity, this light red is unlikely to surface at your local store in Neepawa, Man., or Shediac, N.B. But it deserves a nod for those who can find it in British Columbia. Light-bodied and crisp, it hints at raspberry, plum and black pepper backed by light, fine-grained tannins. Burgundian in style, it would match well with grilled salmon.
